On 08 February 2022, the Viennese negotiation round of the ELSA M&A Contract Competition, the largest moot court in Austria in the field of "Mergers & Acquisitions", took place at the law faculty (Juridicum) of the University of Vienna.

CERHA HEMPEL Managing Partner Dr. Clemens Hasenauer, LL.M./MBA commented on Article 17 (Public disclosure of inside information) and 19 (Director's Dealings) of the European Market Abuse Regulation ((EU) No 596/2014, "MAR") together with Univ.-Prof. Dr. Susanne Kalss, LL.M.

CERHA HEMPEL has advised CA Immobilien Anlagen AG, a company publicly listed on the stock exchange in Austria, in connection with the sale of the R70 office building in Budapest.

Following the departure of Dr. Edith Hlawati, who took up her position on the board of ÖBAG on 1 February 2022, Hon.-Prof. Dr. Irene Welser (57) has now assumed the position of Senior Partner at CERHA HEMPEL.

The number of partners at CERHA HEMPEL increases from 1 February 2022: Dr. Armin Schwabl, LL.M. and Mag. Nadine Leitner have been appointed partners.

For the thirteenth consecutive year, CERHA HEMPEL has – in cooperation with the business law programme at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien) – awarded prizes to those students who have written the best dissertations on the subjects of law and commercial law.

Benno Šiftar recently joined CERHA HEMPEL's antitrust practice. After working for several years as a case handler at the Slovenian Competition Authority, he has joined the team head-ed by Dr. Bernhard Kofler-Senoner.

The establishment of the joint venture in Bulgaria represents an important step forward for the expansion of the PIERER group's bicycle and e-bike production capacity in Europe. The total investment amounts to approximately EUR 40 million.

At the beginning of January 2022, Dr. Christoph Schimmer, MSc, joined CERHA HEMPEL's corporate and tax practice as an attorney and tax advisor in the team headed by Dr. Benjamin Twardosz, LL.M.

For the 4th edition of "BWG – Kommentierung des Bankwesengesetzes sowie der CRR" (Commentary on the Banking Act and the Capital Requirements Regulation) edited by Laurer/M.Schütz/Kammel/Ratka, CERHA HEMPEL Banking & Capital Markets partner Peter Knobl has revised and updated his commentary on Sections 60 to 63b of the Banking Act.
