On 08 February 2022, the Viennese negotiation round of the ELSA M&A Contract Competition, the largest moot court in Austria in the field of "Mergers & Acquisitions", took place at the law faculty (Juridicum) of the University of Vienna. Four participating teams of law students at the University of Vienna, each coached by leading Austrian law firms, competed against each other and had to negotiate a share purchase agreement in front of a jury. Beforehand, the participating teams had already drafted the share purchase agreement themselves or revised the draft agreement of another team.
In the negotiation round, the team mentored by CERHA HEMPEL - consisting of Flora Pedit, Sophie Kahl and Maroš Lezovic - convinced the jury chaired by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Chris Thomale, LL.M. with its negotiation performance and its preceding drafting of the agreement and, therefore, was awarded first place. According to the jury, the decisive factors for this decision were both the strong and excellently prepared conduct of negotiations as well as the professional contract revision of the winning team.
At CERHA HEMPEL, the successful team was mentored by Mag. Jakob Hartig, LL.M. (attorney-at-law, counsel) and Mag. Nikolaus Feldscher, M.Jur. (associate).
After winning first place at the Viennese negotiation round, the victorious team will now participate in the nationwide finals of the ELSA M&A Contract Competition Moot Court in summer and will continue to be coached by CERHA HEMPEL. CERHA HEMPEL congratulates the successful team and is looking forward to the upcoming national final competition.
