CERHA HEMPEL partner Peter Knobl at the ÖPWZ Financial Planner Conference 2025

As part of this year's Financial Planner Conference on 11 November 2025, which marks the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Austrian Centre for Productivity and Efficiency (ÖPWZ), CERHA HEMPEL Banking and Finance partner Dr. Peter Knobl updated numerous financial advisors, portfolio managers, and financial planners on the latest regulatory developments relating to investment advice and portfolio management by banks in the European financial sector.

As part of this year's Financial Planner Conference on 11 November 2025, which marks the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Austrian Centre for Productivity and Efficiency (ÖPWZ), CERHA HEMPEL Banking and Finance partner Dr. Peter Knobl updated numerous financial advisors, portfolio managers, and financial planners on the latest regulatory developments relating to investment advice and portfolio management by banks in the European financial sector.

In his presentation, Peter Knobl outlined the current status of the trilogue negotiations for the Retail Investment Strategy Directive package and the changes proposed in the omnibus sustainability package to (i) the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), (ii) the Taxonomy Regulation, and (iii) the EU Supply Chain Directive. In addition, he highlighted the legal requirements, especially under MiFID II, for impact investing, robo-advice, and the use of artificial intelligence when providing investment advice.

The symposium, which was outstanding not only because it marked an important anniversary, also featured presentations by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Köppl-Turyna (The Challenges Facing Austria's Economy), Wolfgang Matejka, CEFA (Portfolios in Technical Developments), Prof. Dr. Dirk Söhnholz (Impact Investments with Stocks or Funds), Dipl.-Ing.
