CERHA HEMPEL holds Legal Perspectives event on "ESG"

On Wednesday 26 April 2023, another Legal Perspectives event was held in the conference rooms of CERHA HEMPEL. This time, the focus was squarely on the hot topic of "Environmental Social Governance – ESG". Univ. Prof. MMag. Gabriel Felbermayr, PhD, Director of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO), gave the keynote speech.

This time, the focus was squarely on the hot topic of "Environmental Social Governance – ESG". Univ. Prof. MMag. Gabriel Felbermayr, PhD, Director of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO), gave the keynote speech.

The ESG Day was officially kicked off by CERHA HEMPEL Managing Partner Dr. Albert Birkner. A number of CERHA HEMPEL experts then gave presentations on a wide range of topics related to ESG.

Dr. Bernhard Kofler-Senoner, LL.M. (Partner), Mag. Jakob Hartig (Partner) and Mag. Philipp Schaubach, LL.M. (Attorney) addressed "The new ESG regulations and their impact on corporate governance". In the subsequent panel discussion chaired by Dr. Anna Wolf-Posch, LL.M. (Partner), Christian Ritz (Partner, Hogan Lovells) and Sanela Terko (Partner, BDO) discussed the "Sustainability of Supply Chains". Dr. Holger Bielesz, LL.M. (Partner) and Dr. Márton Kocsis (Partner, CERHA HEMPEL Hungary) looked at the management of "greenwashing risks". Afterwards, Mark Krenn (Partner) and Sergei Makarchuk (Of Counsel) reported on "ESG in M&A and Real Estate". In his presentation, MMag. Dr. Stefan Huber, LL.M. (Partner) outlined the "Minimum Social Guarantees provided by ESG". Then, Dr. Alexander Reich-Rohrwig (Attorney) explained the "Insides from Taxonomy" and gave an analysis of the regulations applicable to reporting. Dr. Volker Glas, LL.M. (Partner) then addressed the "The Future Regulation on Green Bonds". And Dr. Peter Knobl (Partner) discussed the subject of "Sustainability Reporting in the Financial Sector".

Lastly, Univ.-Prof. MMag. Gabriel Felbermayr, PhD, Director of WIFO, gave an exciting keynote in which he shed light on the "Economic considerations and aspects relating to the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act".

The ESG Day at CERHA HEMPEL received an overwhelming response and was attended by numerous guests from leading Austrian and international companies.
