CERHA HEMPEL named Austrian Law Firm of the Year at the JUVE Awards 2019

At this year’s JUVE Awards, CERHA HEMPEL was named Austrian Law Firm of the Year 2019 by JUVE, the renowned German industry magazine.

CERHA HEMPEL has every reason to celebrate after receiving yet another international accolade. At this year’s JUVE Awards, CERHA HEMPEL was named Austrian Law Firm of the Year 2019 by JUVE, the renowned German industry magazine.

The JUVE publishing house presented awards to law firms and in-house teams of the year on Thursday 24 October 2019. CERHA HEMPEL won "JUVE Austrian Law Firm of the Year". It was able to take home this prize thanks to the excellent management of the firm, its large and international client base, its competence in Central and Eastern Europe, and its forward-looking strategy.

JUVE gave the following reason for the award: “The M&A deals and transactions handled by Cerha Hempel are becoming larger and more international in scope. The multi-billion investment made by OMV in Abu Dhabi was one such highlight. The firm’s offices in Central and Eastern Europe are another plus, as demonstrated by the quality of the advice provided to the German furniture giant XXXLutz during its purchase of the branches of Kika in Eastern Europe. However, the M&A practice is not the only one experiencing a boost in business, the antitrust team is also successfully exploring groundbreaking areas such as digital distribution channels and it is winning many new clients in the process. Its success proves that the programme of modernisation the firm has embarked on under the leadership of Managing Partners Clemens Hasenauer and Albert Birkner is the right path for the firm”.

"Law Firm of the Year" is an award presented in recognition of the development of Austrian law firms as a whole, looking beyond individual legal fields and recognising management achievements in particular. Furthermore, the panel of judges in this category also pay particular attention to sustainability, continuity and stringent actions compared with previous years. The criteria include, inter alia, strategic achievements, client orientation, the firm’s structure, its policy on promoting up-and-coming talent, profitability, growth in personnel and expansion into new business areas or markets. A dynamic development over the past 12 months is essential.

CERHA HEMPEL Managing Partners Dr. Albert Birkner, LL.M. and Dr. Clemens Hasenauer, LL.M./MBA as well as Dr. Peter Knobl (Partner), Mag. Georg Konrad, LL.M. (Partner) and Dr. Benjamin Twardosz, LL.M. (Partner) jointly accepted the award at a ceremony held at the Frankfurt Opera House.

"Our thanks go to the entire team and above all to our clients. We can only be strong with them", said the CERHA HEMPEL Managing Partners.
