CERHA HEMPEL invited guests to attend the first of a brand-new series of events called GLOBAL Perspectives: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Markus Hengstschläger examined the question of "How should we view the present in light of an uncertain future?"

On Tuesday 13 September 2022, CERHA HEMPEL invited guests to attend the GLOBAL Perspectives premiere. The new event series was opened by renowned human geneticist Univ.-Prof. Dr. Markus Hengstschläger who gave an exciting lecture on the following topic: "How should we view the present in light of an uncertain future?". Numerous guests came to the event, which was held in the CERHA HEMPEL's conference rooms.

Heinrich Foglar-Deinhardstein, LL.M. (Partner, CERHA HEMPEL) kicked the evening off by introducing the two new CERHA HEMPEL event series: GLOBAL Perspectives and LEGAL Perspectives.

Afterwards, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Markus Hengstschläger gave a moving lecture on the question of "How should we view the present in light of an uncertain future?" In his spectacular lecture, he captivated the audience by demonstrating, among other things, the relevance of problem-solving skills in today's world. Given the particular challenges society is facing, resilience and the ability to cope with difficult situations are increasingly important. He emphasized the importance of being able to act independently.

Hengstschläger, a respected geneticist who has received numerous awards, has conducted research at Yale University in the United States, among other places. He is Head of the Institute of Medical Genetics at the Medical University of Vienna and First Vice Chair of the Austrian Bioethics Commission.

In the lively discussion that followed, which was moderated by Dr. Benedikt Spiegelfeld em. (Of Counsel, CERHA HEMPEL), Prof. Hengstschläger answered numerous interesting questions posed by members of the audience.

The launch of GLOBAL Perspectives was a great success and will be remembered by those who attended for a long time to come.
