Minister of Justice Dr. Wolfgang Brandstetter at CHSH: WU Wien and CHSH present the "LAWard 2014"

The official award ceremony was held on Wednesday 14 January 2015 in the conference rooms of CHSH Cerha Hempel Spiegelfeld Hlawati in the presence of Minister of Justice Dr. Wolfgang Brandstetter.

CHSH Cerha Hempel Spiegelfeld Hlawati answered this question in cooperation with the business law programme at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien). With a total prize fund of EUR 4,000, the CHSH Best Thesis Award – LAWard 2014 – is presented to those students who have written the best dissertations on the subject of law and commercial law and was just awarded by CHSH for the sixth time.

As an international corporate law firm, CHSH aims to support high-quality education and practical legal training and to support those students and graduates who have shown themselves to be particularly gifted and talented individuals. The winners of this year’s LAWard were selected by a panel of judges headed by Univ. Prof. DDr. Christoph Grabenwarter (Institute for European and International Law, Vienna University of Economics and Business) and Dr. Clemens Hasenauer, LL.M. (CHSH Managing Partner) together with Univ.-Prof. Dr. Georg Kodek, LL.M. (Civil and Corporate Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business) and Univ.-Prof. DDr. Peter Lewisch (attorney at CHSH).

The winners of the LAWard 2014 are: Dr. Peter Thalmann for his PhD thesis, Kristina Haberson and Katharina Steininger each for their master's dissertations, and Peter Gruber and Johannes Hahn in the undergraduate dissertation category. “The jury was very impressed by the high quality of all the winning entries and the way in which the subjects were treated. We are pleased to present the LAWard 2014 to the winners in recognition of their excellent work”, said Dr. Clemens Hasenauer who heads the Corporate Transactions Department at CHSH.

Podium discussion on current economic developments

Following a keynote speech from Minister of Justice Dr. Brandstetter, the future of legal training and current developments in commercial (criminal) law were discussed during a podium discussion by a panel consisting of Minister of Justice Dr. Brandstetter, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Georg Kodek, LL.M. (Court Counsellor of the Supreme Court), Univ.-Prof. DDr. Peter Lewisch (attorney at CHSH) and Dr. Clemens Hasenauer, LL.M (CHSH Managing Partner).
