CHSH Cerha Hempel Spiegelfeld Hlawati has received two more international accolades: the renowned magazine The Lawyer has named CHSH “Law Firm of the Year: Austria”. CHSH has also been named “Full Service Law Firm of the Year” by ACQ magazine.
The panel of judges at “The Lawyer European Awards”, consisting of managing partners at leading European law firms and heads of legal departments at international corporations, presented a total of 16 European awards at a gala evening in Barcelona. The “Law Firm of the Year” award, the first of its kind for Austria, went to CHSH. “This international award is recognition of the fact that we have consistently provided excellent service to our clients”, explains Albert Birkner, Managing Partner of CHSH.
The Lawyer: CHSH receives the award for “Law Firm of the Year: Austria”
This award is testament to the first-class track record of CHSH’s Banking & Corporate Finance Team, led by Edith Hlawati. The reason why the jury presented the award to CHSH could not have been clearer:
- Cerha Hempel Spiegelfeld Hlawati (CHSH) has consistently worked on some of the largest transactions in Austria. The strong capital markets team led seven of the largest Austrian transactions, including Strabag, Telekom Austria, Bank Austria, Zumtobel, Östereichische Post, VA Tech and Austria Tabak.
- Key of those was the privatisation of Austrian Airlines and the €15bn (£13.43bn) Austrian bank’s rescue package, both undertaken during the financial crisis through key client ÖIAG, the Austrian Republic’s privatisation authority.
- CHSH head of banking and corporate finance Dr Edith Hlawati has had a stellar 12 months, working on many of the core deals that defined the year for the firm.
ACQ Finance Magazine Awards: CHSH named “Full Service Law Firm of the Year”
For the ACQ Finance Magazine Legal Awards (“ACQ Law Awards”), ACQ conducted interviews worldwide with both national and international clients, asking them how satisfied they are with the quality of the services provided by corporate law firms. CHSH scooped two awards. Apart from the important accolade “Franchise Law Firm of the Year”, which Senior Partner Benedikt Spiegelfeld and his team walked away with, CHSH also picked up the award for “Full Service Law Firm of the Year”. According to the magazine, this award went to CHSH due to the company’s first-class track record, the large number of transactions it has successfully handled, and its large client base.
CHSH received another international accolade at the beginning of the year. The London based financial magazine “World Finance” bestowed the Banking & Corporate Finance Team with the award for “Best Capital Markets Team Austria 2009”.
