Numerous compliance officers and members of legal departments from leading Austrian and international companies accepted an invitation to attend the first "Compliance Circle" held in the conference rooms of CERHA HEMPEL on Thursday 21 November 2019.
Dr. Martin Kocher (Professor of Behavioural Economics at the University of Vienna and Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies; IHS) – following an introduction by CERHA HEMPEL antitrust partner Dr. Bernhard Kofler-Senoner, LL.M. – discussed with participants how insights gained from behavioural economics can be used to motivate employees to act in accordance with the law, in particular antitrust law, and strengthen corporate compliance culture.
Afterwards, antitrust partner Dr. Anna Wolf-Posch, LL.M. discussed current developments regarding the recognition of antitrust compliance systems for the calculation of fines in Austria and internationally.
The Compliance Circle should enable compliance officers and members of legal departments to exchange their experiences on a regular basis in connection with the development and strengthening of compliance structures. Each event will focus on and discuss one specific aspect that has practical relevance for compliance work on a daily basis. The objective is to exchange experiences on the subject of compliance intensively and develop solutions jointly.
