Peter Knobl, partner at CERHA HEMPEL specialising in banking and capital markets, has produced guidelines in the form of a Q&A document specifically aimed at domestic and foreign bank managers who need a compact and quick overview of the practical application of Austrian banking supervisory law. The guidelines are up to date as of 1 September 2019 and not only contain the law as currently in force, but they also set out the changes expected to be introduced in the near future by CRR II and CRD V and include a look at Basel IV (2022). The updated guidelines that focus on Austria can thus serve as a way of navigating a path through the labyrinth of EU banking regulation and the guidelines are also a valuable aid both for domestic and foreign market participants, be they existing banks or newcomers, even for those from the fintech sector.
