On 1 October 2020, Dr. Michael Mayr, LL.M. joined CERHA HEMPEL as a new partner in the antitrust and competition team.
Michael Mayr has joined CERHA HEMPEL in Vienna after practising for 15 years at Cleary Gottlieb in Brussels and Cologne. He has been advising clients for many years on all aspects of European, German and Austrian antitrust, competition and state aid law in a wide range of industrial sectors. Together with practice group head Dr. Bernhard Kofler-Senoner, LL.M. and Dr. Anna Wolf-Posch, LL.M. as well as partners Dr. Hans Kristoferitsch, LL.M. and Dr. Stefan Huber, LL.M., the firm's Vienna office now has five partners, one senior counsel, two counsel, and a team of several associates advising in antitrust, competition and state aid law.
In addition to his experience in European antitrust and merger control proceedings before the European Commission in Brussels, Michael Mayr brings with him extensive experience in advising on complex international transactions and antitrust proceedings in jurisdictions outside Europe. Michael Mayr also regularly represents clients in proceedings before the Austrian and German antitrust authorities. His practice also includes sector-specific regulatory law and foreign investment control law. Michael Mayr studied law and political science in Vienna, Paris and London. He is the author of numerous publications.
