On 2 and 3 December 2019, the "Anti-Trust & Competition Compliance in CEE" conference, sponsored by CERHA HEMPEL, was held in Prague.
The conference was held for the fifth year in a row and this year the focus was on competition law compliance systems, digitalization, big data and competition, dawn raids and recent competition law developments with an emphasis on the CEE region.
Bernhard Kofler-Senoner, Head of the CERHA HEMPEL Antitrust Practice Group, chaired the panel discussion together with Grania Holzwarth, Deutsche Telekom Competition Counsel, on "Antitrust Risks and Big Data". CERHA HEMPEL partner Anna Wolf-Posch, together with CERHA HEMPEL's CEE Antitrust Practice Group team members Boyko Gerginov (Bulgaria), David Kučera (Czech Republic) and Gergely Barabás (Hungary), gave a presentation on "Compliance Challenges in CEE". Anna Wolf-Posch also chaired a panel discussion with Manal Maila, Head of Competition Law at Air France-KLM Group, and Nicole Calo-Niiranen, Senior Antitrust Counsel at ABB, on "Mergers – A Focus on Procedure: Best Practices ".
Other key speakers at this year's conference included, among others, András Tóth, the Vice-President of the Hungarian Competition Authority.
Numerous delegates, including representatives from the business community, officials from national competition authorities, economic consultants and lawyers from CERHA HEMPEL's offices in Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovak Republic made the conference a real success. On 2 December, CERHA HEMPEL hosted a networking dinner that was well attended by delegates.
