CHSH Cerha Hempel Spiegelfeld Hlawati advised the global market leader for mobile space systems and secure storage solutions, the Algeco Scotsman Group, in connection with the acquisition of the A1-Container Group which operates in Central Europe. CHSH also oversaw Algeco Scotsman’s entry into other Central European markets.

Algeco Scotsman already has operations in 21 countries. The activities of the group are managed from its headquarters in Baltimore (Maryland, USA). By acquiring the A1-Container Group, which also has operations in Scandinavia in addition to Austria, Hungary and Slovenia, Algeco Scotsman has taken another important step in expanding into Central Europe. The transaction was successfully closed in Vienna on 30 May 2011.

The legally challenging deal was supported by CHSH’s Corporate & Commercial team led by partner Thomas Trettnak. The team also included attorneys Mark Krenn (M&A) and Barbara Klinger (Employment Law). As Central European counsel, CHSH advised Algeco Scotsman during the structuring and implementation phase of the transaction which consisted of mixed share and asset deals in the three target countries: Austria, Hungary and Slovenia.
