Irene Welser becomes Senior Partner at CERHA HEMPEL

Following the departure of Dr. Edith Hlawati, who took up her position on the board of ÖBAG on 1 February 2022, Hon.-Prof. Dr. Irene Welser (57) has now assumed the position of Senior Partner at CERHA HEMPEL.

Edith Hlawati was appointed as the new CEO of ÖBAG with effect from 1 February 2022. She thus stepped down as Senior Partner of CERHA HEMPEL Rechtsanwälte GmbH on 31 January 2022. Hon. Prof. Dr. Irene Welser has assumed the position of Senior Partner.

As Senior Partner, Irene Welser will support the firm's 3-5-15 strategy, which was successfully introduced by Managing Partners Albert Birkner and Clemens Hasenauer. Based on the three pillars of communication, participation and commitment, CERHA HEMPEL attaches the highest priority to the quality of its legal services, its focus on CEE and a corporate culture based on appreciation, feedback and perspective. In recent years, CERHA HEMPEL has received several international awards in recognition of the excellent services it provides its clients.

Irene Welser has been an attorney at CERHA HEMPEL for 30 years. In 2003, she was the youngest ever person to be appointed an honorary professor by the University of Vienna. She heads the Contentious Business Department at CERHA HEMPEL, which under her stewardship has been instrumental in securing landmark decisions in proceedings before the Supreme Court.

"As Senior Partner, I will put all my experience as well as my professional and personal authority at the service of CERHA HEMPEL. I very much look forward to this task", said Hon.-Prof. Dr. Irene Welser.

"With our new Senior Partner, we will continue building on the firm's success to date with the involvement of all partners and consolidate CERHA HEMPEL's position among the leading law firms in Austria and in CEE in the long term," said Managing Partners Albert Birkner and Clemens Hasenauer.
