For two days, everything at CHSH focussed on the “Big Deal”. Twenty young law students and graduates were given the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of an M&A transaction and gain valuable practical tips and advice. Afterwards, around 200 guests took part in an exciting podium discussion at the “Big Deal” Clubbing event held at the Palmenhaus in Vienna where Dr. Martin Boehringer (Credit Suisse London), G. Célia Konrad, Esq., (RHI AG) and Markus Richter (ÖBB-Holding AG) and CHSH partner Dr. Clemens Hasenauer discussed career opportunities, the secrets of success and their own careers.
All of the podium guests agreed that career prospects for commercial lawyers remain good in spite of the current economic crisis. Important factors are sound professional training and extensive practical experience. “Through the ‘Big Deal’ workshop, we have given the participants a good technical overview and an understanding of current practical requirements,” said Clemens Hasenauer, partner at CHSH and Head of the Corporate Transactions Department which specialises in Mergers & Acquisitions.
CHSH “Big Deal”: A 3-year Success Story
Each year, the CHSH “Big Deal” workshop gives students, graduates and postgraduate students of law and commercial law the chance to see how large-scale transactions are carried out in practice. The participants perform a variety of tasks ranging from organising the sales process, drafting a confidentiality agreement and the Letter of Intent, to performing due diligence, signing and closing the deal, and implementing Post Merger Integration. Solutions are developed with the help of CHSH lawyers based on real M&A sample documents and then presented to the group. In this way, CHSH offers high potentials the chance to put the basic knowledge they have acquired at university into practice over the course of the two-day workshop.
The CHSH LAWard 2009 supports young students and graduates of commercial law
Another highlight is waiting in store for the young law students and graduates after the “Big Deal”. In cooperation with the Vienna University of Economics and Business, CHSH will present the LAWard on 25 November. With a total prize fund of €3,500, the CHSH LAWard 2009 is presented to those students of law who have distinguished themselves by writing the best dissertations on the subject of commercial law. A highly-qualified jury will judge the best undergraduate dissertations and Master’s and PhD theses on the subject of commercial law. As an international corporate law firm, CHSH aims to support high-quality education and practical legal training and to support those students and graduates who have shown themselves to be particularly gifted and talented individuals.
